Gunmen attack SDF positions in Deir ez-Zor for second day
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Several attacks targeted on Saturday evening positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for the second consecutive day in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source from the SDF in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that “unknown gunmen attacked two SDF positions with automatic weapons near the banks of the Euphrates River in the town of al-Kishkiyah, east of Deir ez-Zor, triggering direct clashes that forced the attackers to flee.”
The source said that another simultaneous attack targeted the SDF-run hospital and post office in the town of Abu Hamam, also east of Deir ez-Zor.
The clashes lasted for more than an hour, and the attackers withdrew after SDF reinforcement patrols arrived, without any casualties or injuries reported.
In a separate incident, an SDF military position in the town of Diban, southeast of Deir ez-Zor, was targeted with an RPG-7 fired from a long distance. The attack caused material damage only, according to the source.
The SDF has not yet announced any arrests in connection with the attacks, as security operations continue in the area.
