Progress made in talks with transitional government on military track – AANES

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Yasser al-Suleiman, spokesperson for the Negotiation Committee of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), told North Press on Saturday that negotiations with the Syrian transitional government are making progress, particularly on the military track.

Al-Suleiman said that discussions held in Raqqa and Tabqa, stressed that there is no room for the division or fragmentation of the Syrian army, adding that “the principle is one unified army with diverse formations.”

The Negotiation Committee convened on Dec. 25 in the city of Tabqa, northern Syria, to review the latest political developments in Syria and the March 10 agreement.

Al-Suleiman highlighted the importance of restoring state institutions that uphold Syrian sovereignty, including the real estate and civil registry offices.

He indicated that the Tabqa meeting also emphasized the need to reopen border crossings in northern Syria, whether with Turkey or Iraq.

“There are understandings with Turkey, and channels of communication remain open on security and military issues,” he noted.

The spokesperson pointed out that any changes affecting AANES institutions will be aligned with Syrian state institutions in a manner that safeguards the rights of all employees.

Al-Suleiman concluded by stating that Arab and regional countries are backing efforts to ensure the success of the March 10 agreement, with the aim of securing constitutional guarantees that protect the rights of all Syrians without exclusion or marginalization.
