Damascus customs patrol targeted on Aleppo–Raqqa road, injuries reported
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Several members of a Syrian customs patrol were injured on Friday after their vehicle was targeted by unknown gunmen along the Aleppo–Raqqa road, according to Syrian media reports.
The Syrian state-run al-Ikhbariya TV channel reported that a patrol belonging to the customs police was attacked by unidentified assailants while traveling on the strategic road connecting Aleppo and Raqqa provinces. The number of injured was not immediately specified.
According to the report, the attack was carried out by armed individuals whose identities and affiliations remain unknown. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident as of the time of publication.
Local sources said the wounded officers were transported to medical facilities for treatment, while security forces imposed heightened measures in the area surrounding the Aleppo–Raqqa road following the attack.
