U.S. Envoy condemns attack on joint patrol in central Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Tom Barrack, U.S. Special Envoy for Syria, condemned on Wednesday a deadly ambush targeting a joint U.S.–Syrian government patrol in central Syria

In a statement shared on X, Barrack said: “I strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist ambush targeting a joint U.S.–Syrian government patrol in central Syria. We mourn the loss of three brave U.S. service members and civilian personnel and wish a speedy recovery to the Syrian troops wounded in the attack. We remain committed to defeating terrorism with our Syrian partners.”

The attack, which killed two U.S. soldiers and one civilian U.S. interpreter and wounded additional personnel, occurred during a mission in support of counterterrorism operations in the region.
