Nechirvan Barzani meets Kurdish National Council, discusses Syria’s Kurdish issue
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, met on Thursday with a delegation from the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS), led by Council President Mohammad Ismail. The meeting focused on the latest developments in Syria and the broader region.
According to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Presidency’s media office, the delegation discussed the current political and humanitarian situation in Syria, as well as the status of the Kurdish community and other ethnic groups in the country. The talks also touched upon the role of the Kurdish National Council in ongoing political negotiations and Syria’s future.
Barzani emphasized the importance of unity and mutual understanding among the Kurdish parties, reaffirming the Kurdistan Region’s ongoing support for the negotiation process. He highlighted the need to ensure the protection of all ethnic and religious communities’ rights within Syria, based on stability and the progress of the country.
The Kurdish National Council delegation expressed its gratitude for Barzani’s continuous efforts to address the Kurdish issue in Syria and for the enduring support provided by the Kurdistan Region.
