Israeli troops enter Syrian village in latest southern incursion
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces carried out a new ground incursion on Friday into the village of Ofaniya in the northern countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria, according to the state-run SANA news agency.
SANA reported that “an Israeli force consisting of four military vehicles advanced into Ofaniya village and set up a temporary checkpoint between it and the nearby town of Khan Arnabeh, inspecting cars and passersby.”
The agency added that on Thursday, Israeli forces had also entered the village of Ruwayhina in the southern countryside of Quneitra, marking consecutive incursions in recent days.
Israel has repeatedly conducted incursions and interventions in Syrian territory, often provoking condemnation from Damascus. The Syrian government has called on the international community to take immediate measures to halt such violations of its sovereignty.
The border region between Syria and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights has witnessed intermittent tensions and limited ground movements by Israeli forces in recent years, amid heightened regional instability.
