AANES delegation says all sides under pressure for agreement
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Yasser al-Suleiman, spokesperson for the Autonomous Administration’s negotiating delegation with Damascus, stated on Friday that “there are significant pressures on all Syrian parties to reach understandings that lead to solutions.”
Speaking to North Press, al-Suleiman emphasized the complexity of the Syrian issue, noting the involvement of both regional and international actors. “This matter holds great importance, and there are many regional and international interventions and overlaps,” he said.
Al-Suleiman stressed that any solutions must guarantee the rights of all Syrians and strengthen Syria’s unity and the safety of its people across all its diverse and historic communities. “There is no compromise on Syria’s territorial unity from north to south and from east to west,” he added.
The delegation referred to the March 10 agreement, which included provisions for the integration of all institutions, both civilian and military. “We in northeast Syria have announced the readiness of all technical committees to discuss major and minor issues,” al-Suleiman said.
He explained that they are awaiting a date from the Syrian government to begin discussions on these files through their committees and the corresponding ones on the other side, whether civilian, military, security, or even constitutional if possible.
Al-Suleiman expressed cautious optimism: “We still hope that dialogue will lead to tangible, positive results if it begins soon despite all challenges and difficulties. Syrians have always been and remain worthy of national solutions that unite rather than divide.”
The remarks come amid renewed dialogue efforts aimed at resolving outstanding political and security issues between northeast Syria and Damascus, following years of complex conflict and shifting alliances.
