LATAKIA, Syria (North Press) – Three members of the Civil Defense were injured on Monday while battling wildfires in the countryside of Latakia, western Syria, a local source reported.
The source told North Press that “three firefighters were wounded and a fire engine was destroyed during efforts to contain fires in the al-Sukariyah area of Jabal al-Turkman in the Latakia countryside.”
According to the source, Civil Defense teams and forestry brigades are struggling with difficult terrain and strong winds, which have accelerated the spread of flames.
He added that the presence of war remnants in the area has further increased the risks of firefighting operations.
