Doha hosts ministerial prep session ahead of emergency Arab-Islamic summit

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The preparatory ministerial meeting for the emergency Arab-Islamic summit began on Sunday afternoon in Doha, chaired by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, with the participation of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al- Shibani and the foreign ministers of member states of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Earlier, Syrian Foreign Minister al-Shibani arrived in Doha to participate in the preparatory session, which is focused on the emergency summit scheduled for Monday. The summit was convened by Qatar following an Israeli strike on September 9 in Doha, an attack that drew widespread condemnation across Arab and Islamic circles.

According to the Qatari news agency QNA, the preparatory meeting will review the draft final statement of the summit, which is expected to condemn the Israeli targeting of Doha and reject violations of Qatar’s sovereignty.

The meeting will also emphasize Arab and Islamic solidarity in confronting Israeli escalation and seeks to formulate a unified position reflecting Arab-Islamic unity. It further highlights the importance of diplomatic coordination in international forums, according to QNA.
