Regional powers condemn Israeli escalation in Syria after deadly strikes

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A wave of regional condemnations followed Israeli military operations in Syria this week that left at least six Syrian government soldiers dead, according to local media.

The United Arab Emirates denounced on Wednesday what it described as frequent Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty, calling the incursions “a blatant breach of international law” and the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel.

Abu Dhabi urged the international community to take urgent action to halt the attacks and prevent further escalation.

On Tuesday, Kuwait and Jordan issued similar condemnations. Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry described Israel’s actions as “a grave violation of Syria’s sovereignty and of international law,” while Jordan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sufyan al-Qudah strongly denounced Israeli strikes that he said targeted a Syrian civilian home.

Al-Qudah also warned against Israel’s declared plans to maintain positions on Mount Hermon and in the buffer zone, calling it “a dangerous escalation.”

Qatar likewise condemned Israel’s military incursions as “an irresponsible act that threatens regional and international security,” stressing its support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Saudi Arabia and Turkey also joined the chorus of criticism. Riyadh reaffirmed its “firm stance” in rejecting Israel’s frequent violations of Syrian sovereignty, while Ankara condemned the widening scope of Israeli attacks, describing them as a serious breach of international law.

The latest strikes took place in rural Damascus and Quneitra earlier this week, involving drone attacks and ground operations, according to local reports.
