Damascus denies reports of imminent Syria-Israel security agreement

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs an Expatriates denied on Saturday reports about a potential security agreement between Syria and Israel, allegedly set to be signed on Sep. 25 under the auspices of the United States.

On Friday, the Independent Arabia newspaper cited senior Syrian sources claiming that Damascus and Tel Aviv were preparing to sign such an agreement, aimed at easing ongoing tensions between the two sides.

In response, the Coordination and Communication Office of the Ministry’s Information Department told Syria TV, “The reports circulating about the signing of any security agreement between the two sides are unfounded.”

Earlier in the week, the state-run Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that al-Shaibani held a meeting with an Israeli delegation, but did not confirm the participation of Israeli Minister Ron Dermer in the talks.
