DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said on Wednesday that the occupation of Syrian territories “will lead only to chaos,” urging Israel to respect Syria’s sovereignty and halt its incursions deeper into the country.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Moscow with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, Safadi reaffirmed Amman’s position in support of Syria’s unity and territorial integrity. He said Jordan stands with rebuilding the Syrian state and safeguarding the rights and security of all its citizens, adding, “The stability of Syria is the stability of the entire region.”
Safadi highlighted the importance of security in southern Syria, stressing that stability there directly impacts Jordan’s own national security. He noted ongoing coordination with both the Syrian transitional government and the United States to reach a solution for the situation in Suwayda, describing it as an integral part of Syria whose residents must enjoy full rights and bear the responsibilities of Syrian citizens.
“The Israeli interference and provocations are what drive crises, more tension, and instability in Syria,” Safadi said. He stressed that such actions exacerbate existing challenges and obstruct efforts for peace and security.
The Jordanian foreign minister underscored his country’s intention to continue working with regional partners and the Syrian government to deliver humanitarian aid and strengthen security in southern Syria.
Safadi’s remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing disputes over Israeli actions inside Syrian territory. His call for respecting sovereignty and advancing stability reflects Jordan’s role as a key mediator in addressing cross-border challenges linked to the conflict in Syria.
