Iraq confirms September withdrawal of Coalition forces to Erbil
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – An Iraqi government source confirmed on Sunday that U.S.-led Global Coalition forces will withdraw from Baghdad to Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, in September 2025.
According to Al Jazeera, the source stated that the Coalition will pull out from Ain al-Asad Air Base, Baghdad International Airport, and the Joint Operations Command headquarters, relocating to Erbil as part of the agreed plan.
The source added that the withdrawal of Coalition forces in September comes in line with the agreement reached between Baghdad and Washington.
In September 2024, Iraq and the United States reached an agreement outlining the Coalition’s gradual withdrawal from Iraqi territory.
The source clarified that foreign military trainers will remain in Iraq, emphasizing that their presence is separate from the coalition’s redeployment.
