Syrian, Turkish FMs accuse Israel of destabilizing Syria, stress unity

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian transitional government Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan accused on Wednesday Israel of seeking to destabilize Syria and foment unrest, while underscoring the importance of unity and inclusion for all Syrian communities.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Ankara—where al-Shaibani was accompanied by the Syrian ministers of defense and intelligence chief—Fidan said there were Israeli efforts aimed at weakening Syria and creating chaos within it.

Al-Shaibani warned that Syria is facing challenges no less dangerous than those of past years, foremost among them Israeli interventions and attacks that threaten the stability of Syria and the entire region.

Addressing the recent violence in Suwayda, he emphasized that Suwayda is an integral part of Syria, and its people are an inseparable part of the social fabric of the Syrian nation.

The Syrian foreign minister affirmed his government’s commitment to holding accountable all perpetrators of violations in Suwayda and elsewhere, stressing that the Syrian state is the guarantor of the protection of all its citizens.

Fidan, on the other side, reiterated Turkey’s position on preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and safeguarding the rights of all components of the Syrian people, but noted that this cannot be achieved through arms, threats, or occupation of land.
