Syrian group in Brussels prepares for national conference in Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian group in Brussels prepares to hold a national conference in Syria, a member of the group said on Monday.
Muhyiddin Eiso, member of the Syrian Communities Coordination Committee, told North Press that the committee’s meeting, held on Sunday in Brussels, aimed at laying the groundwork for a comprehensive national conference to be convened inside Syria.
Eiso said the discussions underscored the need to engage with Syrian communities, prominent figures, and elites both inside and outside the country to unify visions and efforts.
The preparatory meeting, held in the Belgian capital, addressed key issues such as federalism and democracy in Syria.
According to Eiso, participants agreed to organize seminars and meetings abroad with the involvement of governments, civil society organizations, and European figures, to share perspectives and review current developments inside Syria.
He added that the meeting also stressed the importance of coordination among various groups to adopt joint positions or organize activities on the ground, including sit-ins, political seminars, and cultural and humanitarian initiatives.
Eiso clarified that the Syrian Communities Coordination Committee functions as a coordination framework, not a substitute for any political entity.
He said the timing and location of the planned national conference will be determined later this year, based on political circumstances.
The meeting also resolved to compile and submit files on violations inside Syria to relevant authorities and human rights organizations.
