U.S. envoy welcomes SDF-Damascus dialogue, backs unified Syrian

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – U.S. Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack, praised on Tuesday recent remarks made by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander General Mazloum Abdi, describing the ongoing dialogue with the Syrian transitional government as a constructive step toward national unity.

“We so appreciate the constructive dialogue to advance integration and unity,” Barrack said via his official X.

Earlier the same day, General Abdi confirmed in an interview with Al Hadath TV that communication channels with the transitional Syrian government remain open on a daily basis.

He emphasized that both sides agree on the principles of a unified Syria with a single army and one national flag.

“Your leadership & the SDF’s perseverant efforts, alongside the Syrian government’s resolute commitment to inclusion under President al-Sharaa, are pivotal to a stable Syria of “one army, one government, one state,” Barrack added.
