Raqqa tribal leaders condemn Suwayda violations, call for unity
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Tribal elders and community leaders in the city of Raqqa, northern Syria, issued on Thursday a strong condemnation of recent violations committed against civilians in Suwayda, warning of the grave consequences such actions could have on the unity and safety of the Syrian people.
In a statement released to the public, the Raqqa dignitaries expressed deep concern over the developments in Suwayda.”
“We are following with great alarm the recent events in Suwayda, as reported by media and social platforms,” the statement read. “Some local factions have committed violations against innocent civilians—men, women, and children—and even targeted national symbols that are of shared value to all Syrians.”
The statement urged the Syrian transitional government to assume its responsibilities in maintaining security and stability, ensuring the protection of unarmed civilians, and holding accountable those responsible for the violations through due legal process.
The tribal leaders also called for an immediate end to hate speech and incitement to violence, emphasizing the importance of reasoned dialogue and civil discourse as the only viable path to prevent further bloodshed.
