ISIS claims deadly attack on SDF checkpoint in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Wednesday responsibility for an attack targeting a checkpoint operated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the southern countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria. The attack took place on Sunday.
ISIS, which continues to operate sporadically in several parts of Syria—including Deir ez-Zor, southern Hasakah, the Syrian desert (Badia), and other areas—announced the operation through its affiliated media channels.
According to the group’s statement, its militants attacked the SDF checkpoint between the towns of Shaddadi and Tel al-Shayer using automatic weapons, killing five SDF personnel.
