Israeli forces target tanks in Syria’s Suwayda
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Israeli army announced on Monday that it had struck several tanks in the vicinity of the village of Sami’ in the Suwayda countryside, southern Syria.
In an official statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said they targeted a number of tanks in southern Syria.
Israeli Channel 12 cited a security source as saying that the strikes were carried out after Syrian tanks reportedly crossed a demarcation line established by Israel in the southern region.
The source said that Syrian tanks violated the red line set by Israel in southern Syria and were subsequently targeted.
The development comes amid growing tensions in Suwayda. Earlier in the day, the Druze Spiritual Leadership issued a statement rejecting the deployment of the Syrian General Security forces in the governorate and called for “urgent international protection” to shield civilians amid escalating violence between local factions.
