Unknown gunmen attack SDF checkpoint in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified gunmen attacked on Tuesday night a checkpoint belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source close to the SDF in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that the attackers targeted the al-Qaws checkpoint, located at the entrance to the town of al-Shuhail, using a rocket-propelled grenade and automatic weapons.
The source reported that clashes broke out between the attackers and SDF fighters, ending with the assailants fleeing the scene.
No casualties were reported, though the attack caused material damage.
According to the source, the checkpoint has been repeatedly targeted in the past but remains well-fortified.
