QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Education and Teaching Authority of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with the Syrian Ministry of Education to continue holding meetings aimed at establishing a comprehensive vision for the examination process.

The discussions, facilitated by UNICEF, focus on mechanisms for conducting exams for both middle and high school students, ensuring that students in different regions have equal opportunities to register and take their exams without logistical or administrative barriers.

According to a statement from the AANES Education Authority, the recent dialogue with Damascus’ Ministry of Education resulted in an agreement to hold regular meetings and technical discussions between representatives from both sides.

“These meetings aim to overcome difficulties, extend registration deadlines, determine exam centers, and ensure that students can take their exams in their respective areas,” the statement read.

The Autonomous Administration further emphasized that any updates regarding the examination process and registration mechanisms will be announced on its official platforms.

Last week, the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Ministry of Education held an initial discussion about organizing exams and ensuring equitable access for students in northeast Syria.

According to Khalf al-Matar, Co-chair of the AANES Education Authority, the talks—mediated by UNICEF—are part of a broader effort to address the future of education in Syria. Discussions included key challenges faced by students, particularly in northeast Syria, where educational structures differ from those in government-controlled areas.

The meeting resulted in a tentative roadmap for further cooperation, including:

Scheduling follow-up meetings to finalize examination procedures.

Exploring electronic registration systems to facilitate student enrollment.

Extending registration deadlines to ensure maximum participation.

Al-Matar stressed that the AANES is committed to ensuring a stable and accessible education system for all students, regardless of their location.

While no final decisions have been made regarding exam logistics, both parties acknowledge the importance of continued dialogue to guarantee fair educational opportunities.

The AANES Education Authority assured students and parents that all relevant updates on registration, exam dates, and locations will be made available through official channels in the coming weeks.
