SDC engages tribal leaders in negotiation process with Damascus

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) convened on Tuesday a meeting with tribal and religious leaders as part of ongoing discussions with various societal groups to involve them in the negotiation process with Syria’s caretaker government.

Hassan Muhammad Ali, head of the SDC’s Relations Office, stated that the decision to hold these meetings followed a tripartite discussion three weeks ago between the SDC, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

Speaking to North Press, Muhammad Ali explained that Tuesday’s meeting in Raqqa brought together religious and tribal leaders to keep the community informed about the progress of negotiations with Damascus.

He emphasized that these meetings aim to ensure meaningful representation of diverse societal groups in the political process.

According to Muhammad Ali, participants will also hold similar discussions, where representatives will be nominated. Ultimately, these efforts will lead to the formation of a general council for Raqqa, which will represent the city in future negotiations with the Syrian caretaker government and serve as a reference body for the community groups that selected it.
