Wanted individuals kill General Security leader in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A General Security leader was killed on Monday evening, and another member was wounded in an armed clash with wanted individuals in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria.

A security source in Deir ez-Zor said that General Security patrols raided a gathering of individuals accused of ties to the former regime at a house in the town of Abu Kamal, leading to an exchange of fire.

The clashes, which lasted only minutes, resulted in the death of the patrol leader, Hamza Muhammad al-Muhanna, and the injury of another member, Shraideh al-Shafiq, the source told North Press.

The suspects managed to escape, taking cover in civilian homes, preventing their capture, the source added.
