Activists in Syria’s Suwayda form “Civil Gathering”

SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – Activists announced on Sunday the formation of the “Suwayda Civil Gathering,” a peaceful platform aimed at amplifying the voice of Syrian citizens in decision-making centers.

According to the organizers, the primary objective of the gathering is to build a cohesive society based on transparency and equality while advocating for reforms and reinforcing democratic values such as freedom, justice, and human rights.

The gathering adopts a horizontal organizational structure that ensures broad participation and prevents power from being concentrated in the hands of a few individuals, thereby fostering a strong internal democratic spirit.

The initiative is founded on key principles, including the unity of Syria’s land and people, the preservation of national identity, the separation of power from the state, and the protection of fundamental freedoms and human rights.

Organizers emphasize that their ultimate goal is to lay the foundations for a state governed by citizenship and the rule of law, where every individual has a role in decision-making, free from political, social, or religious discrimination.
