Landmine blasts kill, injure 4 in central Syria
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two people were killed and two others were injured on Saturday in separate incidents involving remnants of war in the eastern and central regions of Syria.
A local source reported that a landmine, left behind from previous conflicts, detonated while two young men attempted to dismantle it in the desert area of al-Mayadin, east of Deir ez-Zor.
The explosion resulted in the death of Ahmad al-Araj, 33, and left his cousin, Louay al-Araj, injured.
In a separate incident, another landmine exploded near a former military site of the Syrian government in the town of al-Sukhna, east of Homs.
According to local sources, the explosion struck a civilian vehicle, killing Jundi al-Joulan and injuring another passenger, while also destroying the car.
