Three killed in Deir ez-Zor due to war remnants in 24 hours
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three people, including a child, lost their lives within 24 hours due to explosions caused by war remnants in eastern Syria’s Deir ez-Zor Governorate.
A local source said, a landmine detonated when a motorcycle driven by 26-year-old Nasr al-Barghouth struck it on the outskirts of al-Suwai’iya desert in the Abu Kamal countryside. He was killed instantly.
In a separate incident, an unexploded ordnance left behind by Iranian-backed militias detonated near one of their former positions in the town of al-Jalaa, also in Abu Kamal. The explosion claimed the life of 9-year-old Saeed al-Abdullah.
Meanwhile, in the town of al-Tebni, west of Deir ez-Zor, another landmine explosion occurred in the desert as a group of workers was harvesting truffles. The blast resulted in the death of Ali al-Nayef.
