Landmine blasts in Deir ez-Zor kill 2 including child
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Landmine explosions on Tuesday in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, led to the killing of two people, including an 11-year-old child.
According to a local source, a landmine detonated striking a motorcycle ridden by Abdul Majid al-Haytham, 23, from the town of al-Masrab in Deir ez-Zor countryside,as he was heading to the desert to collect truffles.
The explosion killed al-Haytham instantly.
In another tragic incident, 11-year-old Asmar al-Abdullah was killed on Monday when a landmine exploded near a former Iranian-backed militia headquarters in the Ayash neighborhood of Deir ez-Zor.
These incidents are part of a growing crisis, as six people, including two children, died from landmine explosions in Deir ez-Zor since the beginning of the week.
