DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Egypt announced on Sunday that it will host an emergency Arab summit in response to the recent developments about Gaza. The summit is scheduled to take place on Feb. 27 in Cairo.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the summit is being organized in coordination with the Kingdom of Bahrain, the current Arab summit presidency, and the Secretariat General of the Arab League.
In a related development, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemned what it described as “provocative statements” made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state on Saudi territory.
Earlier today, Saudi Arabia also rejected Netanyahu’s comments concerning the displacement of Palestinians from their land.
The emergency summit comes amid widespread regional and international criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to take control of the Gaza Strip from Israel and transform it into what he termed the “Riviera of the Middle East” after relocating Palestinians elsewhere.
