SDC urges global action against Turkish aggression
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) issued on Monday an urgent appeal to the international community to confront escalating Turkish threats targeting Kobani, a pivotal city in northern Syria.
In a statement, the SDC highlighted Kobani’s symbolic role in the Syrian conflict, saying, “Kobani, whose name emerged during the bloody conflict that tore Syria apart, is a small city that nearly fell into the hands of the most brutal terrorist organization.”
It added that the city has become “a historic turning point in the war against ISIS.”
The statement accused Turkey of having “a suspicious role in supporting ISIS” and continuing to back factions of the Syrian National Army (SNA) which share the same ideology and include many members of the organization, according to the SDC.
“This poses a threat to regional and international security.”
The SDC underscored the need for international support, stating, “Kobani requires global backing to preserve its achievements and shield its people from future aggression.”
This plea aligns with a similar appeal made on Sunday by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Kobani where it called on the international coalition to take a firm stance against Turkish threats, describing the city as “facing significant risks.”
