Kobani appeals to Coalition for protection against Turkish threats

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East (AANES) in Kobani made on Sunday a powerful appeal to the Global Coalition urging them to stand against the growing Turkish threats in the region.

In a statement, the AANES expressed concern over the significant dangers facing Kobani city in northern Syria, calling on global solidarity to protect the city.

“We are facing significant threats and dangers, and we call on the Global Coalition and the entire world to unite with us to protect Kobani,” the AANES stated.

While emphasizing its willingness for dialogue to reach a permanent solution to the ongoing issues, the AANES noted to Turkey’s support for factions attacking key areas like Manbij, the northern countryside of Aleppo (Shahba region), and Ain Issa town.

These attacks, including airstrikes, have resulted in civilian casualties. The statement condemned Turkey’s actions, asserting that the goal is to exterminate the people of the region and occupy north and east region.

In addition, the statement reminded the world of Kobani’s critical role in the defeat of ISIS, noting that the international community owes a debt to the city and its fighters.

“The world now owes Kobani and its fighters, and it is time to stand with Kobani,” the statement continued, calling on the Global Coalition and freedom-loving individuals to unite and safeguard the region’s dignity and humanity.

Over the past week, the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), launched multiple attacks on the Karakozak Bridge south of Kobani. Meanwhile, negotiations to transfer the remains of Suleyman Shah from the Ashma village to the bridge’s original site, led by Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) failed.
