DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli airstrikes targeted Mazzeh Military Airport in southwestern Damascus on Wednesday, further escalating tensions in the region.
This attack follows a wave of over 100 Israeli airstrikes on Monday that hit various military sites across Syria, including the Scientific Research Center in Barzeh, Damascus.
Massive Destruction
On Tuesday, the Israeli military announced it had conducted hundreds of strikes within 48 hours on Syrian military targets, citing heightened concerns after the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. These attacks have left widespread destruction in their wake.
The Mazzeh Military Airport has been a recurring target in recent days, with previous airstrikes rendering it nearly completely destroyed.
Context of Escalation
The strikes are part of a broader campaign by Israel to weaken military infrastructures in Syria, particularly following the seismic political shift that saw Assad’s ousting and the rise of opposition factions in Damascus.
