SDF Reports Casualties Among Turkey-Backed Militants in Northern Syria

NORTHERN ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced Wednesday the killing and injuring of several Ankara-backed faction members during clashes in Manbij and Deir Hafer, northern Aleppo.

The region has seen an alarming escalation since last Wednesday, with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) and allied factions launching simultaneous offensives against Syrian government forces and SDF-held areas.

SDF Statement

The SDF released a statement detailing:

Manbij: Fierce confrontations between the Manbij Military Council and Turkish-backed forces in southern Manbij.

Deir Hafer: Intense clashes involving the Tabqa Military Council.

The SDF confirmed casualties among opposition fighters and stated it would provide further details on the incidents soon.

Escalation Timeline

HTS opened multiple fronts against government positions in northwestern Syria.

Turkish-backed factions have since extended the fighting to SDF-controlled regions, sparking violent encounters.

Wider Context

The SDF and its allied councils in northern and eastern Syria face increasing pressure from both HTS and Turkish-backed militias, with the clashes threatening to destabilize the region further.

This new wave of violence highlights the ongoing volatility in northern Syria, where shifting alliances and intensified offensives continue to disrupt fragile ceasefires and exacerbate humanitarian crises.

Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
