Airstrikes kill 3 Iranian-backed militants in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three members of Iranian-backed militias were killed on Friday night in airstrikes believed to have been carried out by the U.S.-led Global Coalition in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
The strikes targeted posts of Iranian-backed militias near the town of Abu Kamal close to the Syrian-Iraqi border.
A military source from the Syrian government forces in Deir ez-Zor reported that unidentified aircraft struck a former post of the Iranian-backed Base 47 on the outskirts of the Abu Kamal desert.
The source told North Press that two local members of the militia were killed in the attack.
Additionally, he noted that a third casualty, a militant of the Afghan Liwa Fatemiyoun militia, was killed in a separate airstrike. This strike targeted a faction ambush position in the Ma’ezila desert.
