ISIS kills Syrian soldier in attacks on government posts in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian soldier was killed on Wednesday night, and several others were injured in several attacks by the Islamic State (ISIS) targeting posts of the Syrian government forces in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria.

A military source told North Press that militants attacked a military post of the Division 17 near the village of al-Merei’iyah, east of Deir ez-Zor, using automatic weapons.

The attack resulted in the killing of a soldier named Zaidan al-Shaker and injured two others.

The source added that ISIS launched two additional attacks. One attack targeted a checkpoint of Division 17 in the town of al-Asharah.

Additionally, another attack occurred on an air defense military site near the town of Muhassan, injuring one soldier and causing material damage.
