Israeli strike on Damascus kills, injures 6 people
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli airstrike targeted on Wednesday a building in the al-Mazzeh area in Damascus, Syria’s capital, killing and injuring six people.
Syria’s state-run news agency SANA reported that three people were killed and three others were injured in an “Israeli aggression targeting a residential building in Damascus.”
In recent weeks, Israel has intensified its airstrikes on Damascus and southern Lebanon, targeting key military sites linked to Hezbollah and Iranian-backed militias.
These strikes are part of Israel’s ongoing efforts to prevent the alleged transfer of advanced weaponry to Hezbollah and to disrupt Iranian influence in Syria and Lebanon.
The attacks have resulted in significant damage to military infrastructure, with reports of casualties among both Syrian and Hezbollah forces.
Israel’s actions come amid heightened regional tensions, as Hezbollah continues to consolidate its presence along the Israeli-Lebanese border, further escalating the risk of a wider conflict.
On Tuesday, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on military positions of the government forces in Daraa and Suwayda governorates in southern Syria, notably hitting the T-4 military airport with two strikes.
Also on Tuesday, the Israeli forces targeted the al-Mazzeh area in Damascus and resulted in the killing of a prominent state TV anchor, Safaa Ahmad.
