Lebanese army arrests 200 Syrian refugees
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Lebanese army arrested on Sunday 204 Syrian refugees as part of an ongoing effort to combat human trafficking, according to an official statement.
The arrests were made during a series of operations aimed at curbing illegal sea crossings. A joint Lebanese patrol, supported by army units, intercepted and detained 204 Syrians attempting to leave the country by sea.
The Lebanese army said its units raided a residence in the northern town of Bebnine, arresting 54 Syrians. They also detained other 150 Syrians on the beach in the al-Arida area.
Additionally, naval forces reported the arrest of 26 Syrians, five Lebanese, and two Palestinians who were found on two boats off the coast of Qalat al-Nahr, also in northern Lebanon, as they attempted to flee the country illegally.
