Government shelling injures 2 civilians in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian government forces and their affiliated militias of the National Defense Forces (NDF) shelled early on Monday the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria, injuring two civilians.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that the government forces and the NDF militias, stationed in the villages of al-Dwair and Sabikhan in the western bank of the Euphrates River, shelled the civilian-populated villages of Abu Hamam, al-Kishkiyah, and al-Busayrah in the eastern bank of the Euphrates with heavy artillery.
The SDF added that the shelling on the village of al-Kishkiyah led to the injury of Ammar Saleh al-Amsha and his wife. Both were then transported to Abu Hamam Public Hospital for treatment.
The SDF added that the intensive shelling hit civilian property and caused massive fires in farmlands.
Earlier, the Hajin Military Council, a component of the SDF, announced thwarting infiltration attempts by Iranian-backed militants into the eastern bank of the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor.
