Iraqi forces arrest ISIS leader in Anbar
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Iraqi forces announced on Sunday the arrest of a leader in the Islamic State (ISIS) in Anbar Governorate in the west of Iraq.
The Security Media Cell (SMC) announced “the arrest of a dangerous terrorist who worked for the so-called former Deputy Governor of the Euphrates State, called (Abu Safiya Al-Iraqi) in Anbar Governorate.”
The arrest was carried out during “a qualitative operation” by the Military Intelligence Directorate in the Ministry of Defense.
The statement added that Al-Iraqi previously participated in many terrorist acts against the Iraqi and Syrian security forces, noting that “the terrorist was handed over to the requesting party in the field and in principle.”
On Aug 8, Iraqi Ministry of Interior arrested 11 ISIS militants, including a woman, in the northern Governorate of Nineveh.
