Jordanian forces foil drug smuggling attempt via drone from Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Jordanian forces foiled on Tuesday an attempt to smuggle drugs from Syria through the use of a drone.

The Jordan Times reported citing a source from the Jordanian Armed Forces that the Southern Military Zone successfully stopped an attempt to smuggle a significant amount of drugs via drone along its western border.

The source indicated that after enforcing rules of engagements, the drone was forced to retreat.

Following survey and inspection activities, authorities discovered and seized a quantity of drugs, which were then turned over to the relevant government agencies.

On Aug. 5, the Jordanian forces thwarted a drug smuggling attempt from Syria. The operation led to clashes between the Jordanian forces and the smugglers.
