Jordan thwarts drug smuggling attempt from Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Jordanian forces announced on Monday that they thwarted a drug smuggling attempt from Syria.
The operation led to confrontation between the Jordanian forces and the smugglers.
“The Eastern Military Zone, in cooperation with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department foiled an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle quantities of narcotics from Syrian territory, within its area of responsibility,” The Jordan Times reported.
A military source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that the confrontation resulted in the injury of many smugglers, forcing them to retreat into Syrian territory.
