AANES releases 68 terrorism-related prisoners in Syria’s Manbij
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) released on Tuesday 68 terrorism-related prisoners in the city of Manbij in northern Syria.
Ahmad Khalifa, co-chair of the Internal Security forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in Manbij, said they released 68 detainees from the Central Prison of Manbij.
Khalifa added that the released are clean-handed from killing crimes and in accordance with the amnesty granted by the AANES.
On Sunday, the AANES released 141 prisoners from Alaya Prison in the city of Qamishli in Northeast Syria, after granting a general amnesty.
On July 17, the AANES granted a general amnesty for offenses related to terrorism.
According to an AANES official, approximately 1,500 prisoners are scheduled to be released under the amnesty issued by the AANES.
The AANES’ amnesty came after continuous demands from tribes and dignitaries in the region, specifically following the tribal meeting in the city of Hasakah on May 25, 2024.
