Asayish dismantle 329 IEDs within year in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Wednesday that their Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) units have dismantled more than 329 IEDs from the mid-2023 so far in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
The Asayish stated in a video posted on its official Facebook and YouTube accounts that they had dismantled more than 329 IEDs, mines, and war remnants in Deir ez-Zor.
The Asayish added in the video that they destroyed these objects safely to ensure no civilian get injured in the area.
They explained that these operations contributed to securing and saving residents’ lives and removing danger from them.
War remnants in Syria are the most dangerous impacts of the decade-long conflict. War parties, mainly the Islamic State (ISIS), deliberately planted landmines and explosive devices within civilians’ areas to protect themselves from the other parties.
They pose a serious threat to the lives of civilians. And demining is one of the longest post-war operations that take time.
