ISIS kills 5 government soldiers in central Syria

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) attacked on Monday a military convoy of the Syrian government forces in the eastern countryside of Homs, central Syria, resulting in causalities.

A military source of the government force told North Press that ISIS militants attacked the military convoy of the 25 Division belonging to the government forces with machine guns and grenades near the city of Palmyra, the Syrian Desert.

The convoy was on route to participate in a sweeping mines operation in the eastern desert of Deir ez-Zor, resulting in causalities among the government forces.

The source added that the attack resulted in the killing of the Captain Bassel al-Saud, from the coastal city of Latakia, and the soldiers Yassin Ahmad al-Rafi, Ahmad Jalal Muhammad, and Talib Ali Darwish.

The attack also led to the injury of other soldiers who were transported to Palmyra Military Hospital.

The source added that the government forces canceled the deployment of the targeted area to Deir ez-Zor, which the convoy was heading to, due to the attack.

On June 8, 2024 Militants of ISIS attacked a military vehicle of the government forces near the village Manoukh in the eastern countryside of Homs.
