SDF arrests 38 ISIS suspects in Syria’s Hasakah

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested on Saturday 38 Islamic State (ISIS) suspects, and seized weapons in Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.

The SDF Media Center said in a statement the SDF, along with the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), conducted a large-scale special operation in the countryside of Hasakah.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 38 ISIS suspects in addition to seizing weapons and ammunition in their possession.

The “suspects were planning to carry out terrorist acts against the city’s residents,” according to the statement.

The SDF reiterated its commitment to dismantling ISIS cells, in addition to ensuring the safety and security of the region.

On Feb. 25, the SDF announced the apprehension of 16 ISIS militants in an operation in Hasakah.
