Turkish forces shell civilian houses in Syria’s Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces shelled on Wednesday night with artillery civilian houses in a village in the western countryside of Kobani, northern Syria.
A local source told North Press that Turkish forces indiscriminately shelled the village of Dikmadash in the west of Kobani with artillery shells.
The source said the shelling caused material damage in civilian property and no casualties were reported.
Moreover, one of the shells hit near a post of the Syrian government forces that stationed there after the 2019 ceasefire agreement, according to the source.
Following the Turkish incursion into northeastern Syria in October 2019, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the U.S. stipulating ceasing all hostilities and the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) 32 km away from the Turkish border.
The SDF withdrew from the border areas according to the agreement, but Turkey continues targeting the area.
Earlier in the day, a Turkish drone targeted a civilian vehicle in a street crowded with civilians in the city center of Kobani, which the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) condemned.
