Young man killed by Turkish border guards in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A young man was killed and another was injured on Monday by Turkish border guards while attempting to cross into Turkey from a village in western Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria.
An administrative source told North Press that 21-year-old Shihab al-Hassoun was killed while trying to cross the border, along with a group of people, into Turkey from the village of Kherbet al-Joz in western Idlib. Another young man was injured.
The source added that 11 other individuals in the group, including women and children, were detained.
The source further noted that the abovementioned young men were taken to the Kherbet al-Joz Hospital.
The incident marks the fifth of its kind in February. Previously, two Syrians were killed and seven others were injured, including two women, in similar incidents in the same month.
