Iran-backed group claims attacks on 3 U.S. bases in Iraq, Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of Iran-backed militias, claimed responsibility for targeting three American bases in Iraq and Syria using rockets and drones.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Defense announced that, since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, 83 personnel were injured in attacks carried out by Iranian-backed militias on American bases in Syria and Iraq.
The Islamic Resistance said a statement published on its accounts, “The fighters of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq attacked three American bases in Iraq and Syria, namely the Conoco base, Erbil airport base, and Ain al-Assad base.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), backed by Iran, announced the death of one of its members, the injury of two others, and the destruction of one of its headquarters in two U.S. strikes in western and southern Iraq.
On Tuesday night, U.S. forces carried out strikes in Iraq against three facilities associated with Iranian-backed militias.
The Islamic Resistance affirmed their determination to continue targeting American bases in Iraq and Syria in support of Gaza.
