ISIS attacks Iranian-backed militias in Syria’s Palmyra
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Three militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) were killed and a militant of the Iranian-backed militias was injured on Thursday at dawn in an attack that ISIS launched on Iranian posts in the vicinity of Palmyra, central Syria.
A military source in the Syrian government forces said that ISIS sleeper cells targeted posts of the Iranian-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun in the vicinity of Arak oil field and the old Palmyra military airport in Homs countryside, central Syria.
Clashes between the two parties lasted for hours, resulting in the killing of three ISIS militants and the injury of a militant of the Iranian-backed militias, the source added.
The source said that the attackers fled towards the Syrian Desert.
On Dec. 17, four militants of an Iran-backed militia were killed, and three others were injured in an ISIS attack in al-Sukhnah countryside, in the eastern countryside of Homs.
