Government forces’ post in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor attacked

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen attacked on Thursday morning a military post of the Syrian government forces in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

A military source of the government forces said two attackers, who were riding a motorbike, opened fire on a post of the Fourth Division of the government forces in the outskirts of the city of al-Quriyah, east of Deir ez-Zor.

The source told North Press that the attack led to the eruption of clashes between the two parties that resulted in the killing of one of the attackers.

The clashes also led to the injury of a soldier of the government forces.

Deir ez-Zor Governorate usually witnesses attacks launched by unknown gunmen who target the government forces. Such attacks are occasionally claimed by the Islamic State group (ISIS) as it is heavily present in the Syrian Desert.
