Turkish airstrikes target 89 sites in NE Syria in 2024

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Monitoring and  Documentation Department of North Press documented dozens of targeted sites by Turkish warplanes and drones in northern and northeastern Syria from the beginning of 2024 up to Jan. 15.

The department revealed that 89 sites were subjected to 122 airstrikes, mostly in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria. 

Twenty-nine inhabited areas and service facilities in Qamishli were targeted with 36 airstrikes, while 12 sites in the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah), far northeast Syria, were hit with 34 strikes, and nine sites in the city of Kobani, north Syria, were hit with 10 strikes. 

The Turkish airstrikes also targeted nine sites in Tel Tamr, northeastern Syria, with nine strikes, and six sites in Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria, were hit with seven airstrikes.

Additionally, four sites in Manbij, northern the country, were subjected to four airstrikes, and five sites in Ain Issa, northern Syria, were hit with five strikes. The Turkish warplanes targeted 15 sites in the northern countryside of Aleppo, aka Shahba Region, northwest Syria, with 17 strikes.
